SPRINGFIELD, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department is investigating what they are calling a suspicious death.
They say deputies responded at about 12:18 a.m. Wednesday to the Brookside Apartments in Springfield for an unattended death investigation after a 28-year-old man from Pennfield Township was found unresponsive in his vehicle by bystanders.
A bystander called 911 and began CPR. Upon deputies arrival, the scene was secured and lifesaving efforts were attempted but were unsuccessful.
The man was subsequently pronounced deceased by medical personnel.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and Medical Examiner Investigator assisted in further investigation and initial observations do not show apparent injuries or wounds on the victim.
The victim was transported to WMED for an autopsy.
The Sheriff’s Department says the man was not shot despite what is being said on social media.
They do not believe that there is any threat to the community or general public. The CCSO Detective Bureau and MEI are continuing in the investigation.
