MARSHALL, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Derek King will remain the Chairperson of the Calhoun County Board of Commissioners.
The Commissioners decide to keep King as Chair during their organizational meeting on Thursday.
King will be the Chairperson through December 31, 2026, which is the maximum two-year duration allowed by state law.
He was first elected to the County Commission in 2012 and ran unopposed in this past November’s General Election.
Matt Saxton is the Vice Chair for 2025, with that position limited by law to one year.
Following the elections, a public hearing and adoption of Calhoun County’s 2025-2029 Parks and Recreation Master Plan took place.
The Board also approved two Federal Aid Grant Contracts with the Michigan Department of Transportation for improvements to B Drive North in Emmett Township, safety-related tree removals, and road improvements along Struwin Road in Pennfield Township, and B Drive South in Newton Township.
