BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The verdict is in, and the new name for the Battle Creek baseball team has been revealed as the “Battle Jacks .”
The name replaces the former Battle Creek Bombers, with the original name change announcement being made last November.
The possible names were both suggested by and voted on by fans, with the final four choices narrowed down to the Crunchers, the Doughnuts, the Blue Collars and the Battle Jacks.
At a press conference Wednesday, officials said they had received over 2,900 votes for the final selection.
Last November, former General Manager Brian Colopy completed the purchase of the team from Northwoods League, at which point the decision to change the name was made.
The current lease agreement will keep the Battle Jacks at C.O. Brown Stadium through 2026.
